Hey all. This article is for people who have ever had trouble with ideas for flash games (or any other game for that matter). Here is a list of several games I have either attempted and failed, or would like to see but don’t have the time to make. It will be updated as more and more games meet that criteria.
1. GeoRace – Player races a computer/other player’s ghost. There screen is split vertically for two players. The player draws out a shape (IE – a triangle) and that shape becomes an object in the game (ie, the triangle becomes a ramp so the player can jump over a gap). The player can drop shapes into both windows. If he draws it in his opponent’s window, it becomes an obstacle for the opponent.
2. Grid 64 – An 8×8 grid is presented before the player, squares then highlight. The player has to click a square that is at least one square (a space inbetween the player square and highlighted square) from a highlighted square. The player has very few seconds to do it. On the grid will be a random pixel-based image. There can be other game modes too (such as build the image, finish the image, etc).
3. Fly Me to Pluto – Puzzle game where the player has a spaceship on earth. The player clicks to release the ship (which while on earth follows the angle of the mouse). The player must navigate his ship through black holes, switching stations, satellites and other planets in order to reach pluto.
4. Crash Test Dummy – A race-to-the-end game or a go-as-far-as-you-can game where the player purposely gets hit by hazardous obstacles in order to gain distance (ie, exploding barrel launches you further into the level). Physics based?
5. Dark Matter – A space based RTS game revolving around ZOA and the Global Liberation Front. Players start at their home planets and build ships to conquer the universe. Dark matter is the game’s resource. Players capture via points such as asteroids and other planets to expand their building area and resources. Possible multiplayer game?
6. Zombie Playground – Side scrolling zombie game with oodles and oodles of weapons/upgrades. Takes place in a carnival or somewhere similar. Minigames can be played to unlock secret weapons. Several zombies attack the player, rooms can be unlocked where more weapons are found.
7. Julian - Player starts with a ship aboard a large space carrier. The player fends off enemies from the ship. The player can either hijack an enemy ship by ramming into it (possibly having to hit a key combination to be successful) or can pick up parts from debris that can be used to build powerful upgrades. Game is lost when the carrier is destroyed.
8. Coffee Run – This was an idea I had, but couldn’t quite implement it the right way. The idea is that a guy (let’s call him Joe) is a caffeine addict who has run out of coffee during his breakfast. Joe has an energy bar and a caffeine bar. His energy can’t run out – he picks up numerous “power up” objects that add to his energy and caffeine bar. When his energy runs out, the game is over. Joe has to pick up the upgrades while avoiding obstacles. When you fill up his caffeine bar, he can enter addict/rampage mode where he can crush any cars/obstacles in his way for a short amount of time. The goal is to see how far you make it before your energy runs out.
I like your game ideas. I think I played the Zombie game. If it is the game that I was thinking about, I liked it, but I sucked at it!
